Cavedago Records:
Currently, I have transcribed birth, death and marriage records for all of Cavedago, Italy for approximately the years 1784-1924. This information can be downloaded in Excel spreadsheet form (latest corrections: March 28, 2006). The top surnames in these records, in approximate order of frequency, are:
Some notes about the format of the data:
The records are arranged with one birth/death/marriage per row. I am in the process of creating GEDCOM family trees out of this raw data. The green rows are rows that have been entered into a family tree, and hence have been double checked for accuracy. Occasionally, you will see yellow lines, which are lines under investigation. You will also notice a fair number of question marks. These marks indicate the record was not clear. The records can be very unclear, compounded by the fact that the recorder doesn't always spell things the same way all of the time. The clarity of the records are illustrated below:
Birth record for "Endrizzi, Germano Giuseppe Giustino", my grandfather, who was born in 1914.
Keep in mind, the 1900s are relatively recent. Records from the 1700s and early 1800s are harder to read, and there are sections missing or rewritten because of water damage. You will find names change over time. Endricci or Endrici becomes Endrizzi around 1800. Dal Dos becomes Dal Doss and finally Daldoss. Dal Sas becomes Dal Sass or Dal Sasso, and finally Dalsass. The common surnames Viola, Zeni, and Clamer seem to be stable. I am also currently working with records from Spormaggiore which go back to 1589. I will publish what I can when it is available.
